Scrap Scrapbooking

I've been working off and on, scrapbooking my daughters lives. It begins in 1974 and I'm up to 1981. I say I'm Scrap Scrapbooking because I'm using all the paper, stickers, and goodies that I've collected over the years in preparation for this. The funny thing is I'm going to a shop with a friend to scrapbook and they have been at it for years and years. Their finished product is so advance to mine. They buy all the latest and finest papers, etc. to pull together the most incredible pages. Mine pale in comparison. However, my effort is to get the job done and hope it looks good. I think my girls will appreciate the efforts I'm going to. At least, when I'm dead and gone, the photo albums will already be separated. I would love to get Christy's books to her as soon as I can because she can compare notes with her toddlers as they grow up. Fun stuff. The pages I'm posting are from 1981. First a page with us camping at Doheny State Beach Campground. There is Natalie and Christy; Brian; Mitch and Wendy; Wendy, Grandpa and Grandma Clemmons, and Brian; Grandma Clemmons and Brian. The second picture was taken in September of 1981. Note the kids ready for school. I'm having a ball scrapbooking. I'm learning lots of techniques from my friends. It may take me forever, but what the heck, I'm retired!

This Month's Happenings

February
On February 3, along with our good friends Burt and Barb, Dick and I headed to Laughlin, NV for some BIG fun.

Our first stop was to visit my brother, Rick and his girl friend, Sandy in Mojave, AZ. His mobile home is located east of Needles, CA, on the other side of the Colorado River. Since Dick and I hadn't visited Rick at his home in many years, I was thrilled to be there. Rick is such a caring, good man, father, son, and brother. He has learned that he has COPD caused by being exposed to asbestos in the Navy. He has been trying to get a handle on it, making many long trips to the VA Hospital. Thankfully, Rick has Sandy as an advocate for him. She is a force to be reckoned with! I know they are on the right road so they can have a good retirement.

We stayed at the River Palms Casino. Dick quickly made his way to the Let It Ride table. When winning was not in the cards, he would find a slot machine. Burt, Barb, and I were the three amigos. We had lots of fun winning on the craps table. We played a little roulette and dabbled with the slot machines. We had a fun dinner at Joes Crab Shack on the river.

Christy, Chas, and Logan are coming to Whittier to visit us on February 19th. I've been trying to think of something fun to do, but have yet to come up with a really good idea. Logan is starting to get to the age where he would like to play on equipment. I noticed La Mirada Park have some fun play equipment that he might like. Wendy and I found that Descanso Gardens have a delightful little choo choo train that we can all ride on. We'll see if that fits in.

January
We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary.
